Breathe Slim, Inc. COO Eugene Shlyakhta recently joined us for an interview. During our time together, he told us a bit about the company he helped to create as well as the people that its product helps on a daily basis.

What made you start a company, other than to make money?

Eugene Shlyakhta: We believed in the product that we created and what it could do for people. Breathslim Health and Wellness Respiratory trainer is unique and can improve the life and health of a broad demographic.

Can you describe your business to us?

Eugene Shlyakhta: Our business makes a safe, cost effective and unique health and wellness product that focuses on respiration. The more oxygen that an individual is able to take in with each breath, the healthier they will be over time. We are headquartered in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. Our products are also proudly made in the United States, rather than overseas.

How did you find your niche?

Eugene Shlyakhta: We really did not find a niche. We ended up making such a unique product that we ended up creating our own niche. Of course, this can be very risky in the short term, but we know that our belief in our product will generate long term ROI.

Can you tell us about any unexpected obstacles or mistakes that were made along the way?

Eugene Shlyakhta: Well, our device was originally marketed as one for weight loss. Over time, we learned that is quite hard for the weight loss demographic to correlate proper breathing with losing extra weight. We believe that this is due to overall skepticism of the entire weight loss market, as well as their reluctance to adopt new forms of losing weight.

Despite such hurdles, we have never wanted to give up. We were definitely frustrated at times, but we overcame this by focusing on the positive feedback that we received from vendors and customers. No one ever tells you what the right thing to do is when you are starting up your own business, so you just have to roll with it.
